The Fourth Chakra - The Heart Chakra

The Solar plexus chakra, the third chakra is called Manipura in ancient Sanscrit and it is located just above the navel. The energy from this chakra comes out of the front of the body and also to a lesser extent (as with all of the chakras except for the root and the crown) comes out of the back of the body too. The energy flows out of the body in the from of a vortex from just above the navel and from a point directly behind it on the back. The energy flow from the front of the body is considerably greater than that from the back.
This chakras represents our life force and is represented by the sun. It gives the warmth and life giving properties of the sun and is the chakra that is responsible for our life giving force. It represents self control, inner power and vitality and it moves us to act upon our own inner strength.
General alimentary issues and dietary matters are connected with the activation of this chakra. It can help us to balance our bodies in a healthy way.

If the solar plexus chakra is blocked then all sorts of stomach problems can arise such as bloating, ulcers, indigestion etc.

The color connected with this chakra is yellow like the sun. Its metal is bronze with its element being fire. The stones associated and used in conjunction with this chakra are citrine and tiger's eye. By using these stones with this chakra you are able to look deeper inside yourself and will find it easier to admit to your own mistakes. It can also aid in developing a connection between your subconscious power and your creative will which will help in personal manifestation. The colon and the digestive system can be stimulated by use of Tiger's eye as can the colon and of course the solar plexus itself.
If this chakra is balanced then the psychological benefits will be an increase of personal power, abilities to make good and fair decisions and a great determination in general. If the chakra becomes blocked however then some of the psychological effects might be doubt, low energy, shyness, exhaustion and digestive problems.

In order to activate this chakra for yourself you can meditate to relaxing music in the key of F. Picture a ball of yellow light all around the chakra. See a yellow lotus flower with 10 petals opening very slowly and gently spinning right over the area of the chakra. This yellow lotus flower with its 10 petals is represented in the ancient Sanskrit Mandala used for the solar plexus chakra.
Images of this Mandala can be found at my web site and also on the cover of my Healing Chakras CD.
